Vs Rotherham

Postby skyblue » Wed Jan 01, 2014 2:41 pm

The team today shows just how thin the squad is:

Coventry City: Murphy (GK), Adams, Webster, Willis, Christie, Thomas, Daniels, Baker (C), Moussa, L. Clarke, Wilson.

Subs: Burge (GK), Phillips, Haynes, Urquhart, Dagnall, Barton, Garner.

Still have an OK feeling about this and I'm going for 2-1.

Have fun

Thin, but we won! Predicted 3-1 somewhere on the board - should have had a cheeky pound on it.

First half was all Rotherham and it was only thanks to Murphy that we weren't 3 or 4 down. Their goal was completely avoidable - the scorer was stood all alone in the box while Rotherham prepared to take a free kick, Baker and Clarke both pointed at him but neither bothered to mark him. Having said that Rotherham deserved to lead.

Second half was the complete opposite with City doing all the attacking. The sending off helped but I felt we were going to get something out of the game before the penalty / red card incident. After that City went for the kill and it seemed like there was only going to be one winner until the crazy scenes at the end.

Bit worrying with the injury situation - Wilson looked like he'd either broken his collarbone or dislocated his shoulder. Thomas looked like he was out cold for a good 5 minutes when he was stretchered off.

Great result! Still think that if we avoid relegation andget to 52 points it will have been a good season with all that has gonen on. Playoffs or talk of them is a pipedream.

Spot on, Steve. But for Murphy, Rotherham would have been over the hills and far away by half-time.

I would love to see the replay for our pen, I wasn't sure it was in the area, but who cares?

I didn't see who gave the pen away at the end, but I would have bet my next month's salary before hand that it was Webster - he is feckin' useless.

Good spell from Dagnall at the end, chased down the defenders and forced them into mistakes.

Really wasn't looking forward to this game in bloody awful weather, but very glad I dragged myself up there.

It was a fraction outside. Very difficult to call in real time.

Will be interesting to see what team we can get out for Barnsley away on Saturday.

Dagnall has finished his loan and looks like Thomas and Wilson are also out. Does Dogga still have a squad number as he might be on the bench for Saturday!

I can confirm that my representatives were in contact with Pressley just before Christmas and something new was signed. Watch this space.
