SISU Buy Brandon Speedway Stadium

Postby billythefish » Thu Jul 25, 2013 11:24 am

According to the CET the club have agreed a deal to buy the Stadium at Brandon. Havent been for many years but was always a pain to get there due to the traffic on Rugby Road when I used to go. Has that changed at all - as can see that being really problematic if we get a few thousand for a game?

They've got no chance of getting planning permission for a football stadium there. The road infrastructure just isn't there.

Yip. Nightmare place to reach for a decent sized crowd! I can't quite see where any road widening could take place, as buying up houses on that road would push the cost up massively. Never going to happen.

I heard it suggested that they might use it for a training base, rather than a stadium. Though how it hasn't been re-zoned for new houses is a mystery.

I wouldn't worry too much about access, can't see more than 500 going to Evo-stik league games.
